Tues - April 17th - First Visit to the ER

A year ago there was rarely any sickness in our household.... since our toddler started to get out more and interact with other kids we have had to deal with coughs and fever more often. Last night a persistent fever that spiked at 105 degrees landed us in the Emergency room for the first time with Sofia.

Titi Mayi and Daddy have been monitoring her temperture during the day at home, she was given medicine and got a cold shower before bed. When it was time to sleep, Sofia tells Mommy, "Mommy, I am sick, you have to help me feel better". Mommy's heart hurted, knowing those words meant Princess Sofia was feeling terrible.

After applying some cold packs, a call to Dr and the highest temperature reading of the day, we headed to the ER. We arrived at 11pm, went to triage inmediately and we were in a room within an hour.

Her temperature was still 105 and she was given medicine for the fever. The Dr. checked her urine, she was getting dehydrated and was given an IV. They also took a blood sample at that time. Then they tested for flu and RSV. Since everything was negative, they did a chest X-ray and finally found the answer.... she had a spot in her lungs, a sing of begining Pneumonia.

She was giving antibiotics and we were sent home, by then she was feeling much better, was talkative again and was asking to go home. We arrived back home at 4am.

She was so brave during the process, she cried very little and was very cooperative. Mommy was so proud and amazed of how strong the little princess acted.

Today she is certainly in better spirits. She ate breakfast, played a little bit in the morning, is talkative and had lunch. She is still spending more time in the couch than usual, but she is feeling better.
