Mon - April 30th - "More Sleep"

Yes, yes, finally this weekend Solymar woke up for her first middle of the night feeding four hours after her bed time feeding; followed by a three hours stretch. That means we get to sleep two additional hours. Ok,  that doesn't sound like a lot, but when you spend 2.5 months waking up every two hours,  any extra sleep makes a difference!

When Sofia got sick she slept on Mommy's bed so Mommy could keep an eye on her through the night....  now she wants to sleep with Mommy and the baby so Mommy's bed has become a family bed. Mommy knows she should send her back to her room but she can't help but enjoy cuddling.... they will be grown and out of the bed soon enough.

And if you were wondering... she is a heavy sleeper, Solymar's crying in the middle of the night doesn't bother her a bit!

Fri - April 27th - Funny Faces

Solymar is 10 weeks today!

She continues to grow at a fast pace, she still eats mostly every two hours through out the day and night. She is spending more time awake during the day but we are still waiting for her to sleep more during the night.

These days she tracks Mommy every where she moves, she smiles a lot more, recognizes everyone in the house and "eat" her hands. Here are so funny pictures of her while she was modeling a Betty Boop outfit for Mommy...

Sofia got her face painted for the first time last weekend... She was a beautiful butterfly!

Tues- April 24th - Enjoying the Outdoors

Now that Sofia is back to her usual self and Solymar got her shots, nothing stops us from enjoying the outdoors even more... Here are pictures of us visiting a winery for an Art and Wine day ....

She asked Mommy to put her "lady bug dress" on as soon as she noticed that it was raining outside. As if she had been waiting for rain the last two weeks since she saw the rain coat and boots

Fri- April 20th - Two Months Check Up: "First Shots"

Solymar is two months old as of Tuesday; today we went to see the Dr. and she got her first set of shots; 3 injections and one vaccine by mouth... poor baby. She cried less than a minute, which was much less than Sofia cried when she got her first set of shots.
Four hours later, Sol is just a little bit more fuzzy than usual, but has been waking up every two hours for her milk and doesn't have a fever. She grew 2 inches and gained 2 pounds the last month, weighting 9 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.

Sofia is back to her usual self, she has been without a fever for the last two days and everything looked normal when she was checked by the Dr. today.

Thus all is well in the Muñoz household!!!

Tues - April 17th - First Visit to the ER

A year ago there was rarely any sickness in our household.... since our toddler started to get out more and interact with other kids we have had to deal with coughs and fever more often. Last night a persistent fever that spiked at 105 degrees landed us in the Emergency room for the first time with Sofia.

Titi Mayi and Daddy have been monitoring her temperture during the day at home, she was given medicine and got a cold shower before bed. When it was time to sleep, Sofia tells Mommy, "Mommy, I am sick, you have to help me feel better". Mommy's heart hurted, knowing those words meant Princess Sofia was feeling terrible.

After applying some cold packs, a call to Dr and the highest temperature reading of the day, we headed to the ER. We arrived at 11pm, went to triage inmediately and we were in a room within an hour.

Her temperature was still 105 and she was given medicine for the fever. The Dr. checked her urine, she was getting dehydrated and was given an IV. They also took a blood sample at that time. Then they tested for flu and RSV. Since everything was negative, they did a chest X-ray and finally found the answer.... she had a spot in her lungs, a sing of begining Pneumonia.

She was giving antibiotics and we were sent home, by then she was feeling much better, was talkative again and was asking to go home. We arrived back home at 4am.

She was so brave during the process, she cried very little and was very cooperative. Mommy was so proud and amazed of how strong the little princess acted.

Today she is certainly in better spirits. She ate breakfast, played a little bit in the morning, is talkative and had lunch. She is still spending more time in the couch than usual, but she is feeling better.

We'll share an update with you on Friday after our follow up visit to the Dr.

Mon - April 16th - "Back to Work"

Yes, it is time forMommy to get back to the office... Solymar didn't like the news at first, but then Mommy explained she would be home with Titi Mayi and Sofia; Daddy too, although he would be working and she was not sad anymore...

Sofia didn't mind the news since she got her first video game to keep her entertain while Titi Mayi takes care of Solymar. The weather forecast is a good one for today, so Mommy is hoping that is a sign that we all will have a good day ...

Fri - April 13th - "8 Weeks Old"

Solymar is 8 weeks old today; Mommy was giving her a bath when she noticed how much she grew this week, as if she got bigger overnight. She nows smiles on a daily basis in response to our voices. She is also gaining more control of her hands and they end up in her mouth more often.

Sol has settled into a "9pm bed time", luckily for Mommy, big sister Sofia is in bed by 9pm too, so Mommy knows every day she just have to hang in there until then. Bed time is a good time at home, neither one of the girls fight it and they go to sleep on their own.

Usually Solymar will sleep until midnight, go back to sleep and wake up every 2 hours

until 6:30 am. Right around that time, Sofia wakes up and calls for Mommy. Instead of getting out of the bed Mommy brings Sofia to her bed and have some cuddle time with both girls for 30 minutes to an hour...sometimes Sofia will even fall asleep again. Mommy really loves cuddle time and can't think of a better time during the day ....

It is also the best bonding time the girls have during the day. This morning Sofia was giggling, when Mommy looked; the girls were playing footsie... Mommy's heart melted.

Wed - April 11th - "Easter Weekend: Sunday"

We had an " Easter photo shoot" at home where Mommy got some beautiful smiles from Solymar....

On Easter we visited great grandma in the afternoon and had a wonderful time with the family including a surprise visit from Titi Sonia.

Then we visited friends and met a new little friend, Joaquin; who didn't waste time to make a move on Solymar and held her hand. Daddy said holding Joaquin's hand was ok because he is in his "list of suitable suitors" for future consideration.

Sofia was happy to see and get to play with her friend Eva Sofia, they have commented on each other's facebook pictures the last year and half but have not seen each other in person in a long time.

Tue - April 10th - "Easter Weekend : Saturday"

We had a packed Easter weekend.... On Saturday, Titi Noemi and Sofia's little friend Isabela came to visit.

Mommy and Titi Noemi prepared an egg hunt in the front yard for the girls, they had fun picking up the eggs and enjoyed the candies and goodies they found inside the eggs.

Since Sofia is such an experience baker, Titi Noemi brought her a "pizza brownie" recipe to make. It didn't sound good to Mommy at first but it turned out to be a delicious treat. What's in a pizza brownie you might ask, the dough is the brownie, the sauce is red frosting, follow by the cheese which is shredded white chocolate and finally the topping; yummy M&Ms.

Fri - April 6th "My New Friend"

Solymar got to meet her new little girl friend who is exactly one month younger than her... baby Londyn.

Sofia was happy to play with her friends Chloe and Jason again and she was surprised they had a new baby sister just like her.

They are a gorgeous bunch!

Mon - April 2nd - "Cookies"

On Saturday Mommy was planning to take Sofia to visit the Bunny and do some egg hunting but the weather was not nice.

Mommy thought Sofia would have as much fun baking cookies... we stayed in and baked some yummy oatmeal cookies instead... Sofia was happy.

Solymar took a nice 3 hours nap giving us plenty of time of baking!
