Sun - Nov 25th - "Thanksgiving Fun"

We had a great Thanksgiving week that started with a celebration at Sofia's school follow by the making of delicious pasteles and bread at home, spending a great time at cousin's Betsy's on Thanksgiving day and spending time with family and friends who were visiting from out of town.
We Thanked God for our family and friends as well as all other blessings he allows us to enjoy.
During the Thanksgiving celebration at school,  the kids sang a couple of songs, this one was our favorite...
"Mr. Turkey, Mr. Turkey,
big and fat, big and fat,
I am going to carve you, I am going to carve you,
just like that, just like that!"

Ready for the School Celebration !!!

Ready to meet the family on Thanksgiving Day !!!

Sat Nov 17th - "Nine Months Old"

Solymar is 9 months old today!!

She weights 16 pounds and is 25 inches long. She continues to talk a lot and imitates our sounds. These days she says Mama, Dada, Baba, Tata, Nena and Go (to the dog).
She claps, waves and points as we sign "patty cake, patty cake", "la linda manita" and "pon, pon, pon el dedito en el pilon". She sleeps in her room but only 5 to 6 hour stretches at the most.
She has mastered sitting on her own and she knows how to pull herself up to a sitting position and go back down to the floor.  During the day she is crawling around the house, pulling herself up from things or pushing herself around in the walker. She will be chasing after Sofia soon!

Big sister Sofia is happy she's back at school, after hurricane Sandy closed the school for 2 weeks due to lack of electricity.

Tues Nov 6th - "Halloween Fun"

When Mommy moved from Puerto Rico to New York, she thought hurricanes will no longer be a problem but now in New Jersey, two years in a row we've been hit!
Last year Solymar was safe and sound in Mommy's belly and Sofia slept through it. We didn't lose power but the French doors in Mommy's and the family rooms were opened by the wind because they were not closed properly.
Lesson learned; we closed them tight this year and good we did because hurricane Sandy's winds were stronger, so much more that we lost 8 pines in the front of the house and had no power for 3.5 days.

Luckily Fraternity Uncle Julius and Auntie Kate had power in PA and we headed that way... It was awesome because Sofia and Solymar got to go trick or treating for the first time with fraternity cousin Adalaide!!!

This Halloween Sofia had lots of fun.... aside from trick or treating; she went to a "haunted playground" close by home and had her first school trip to a pumpkin patch. She brought home a pumpkin and carved it with Daddy.
