Mon - April 27 - "Tummy Time"

Nothing new at home... Sofia is getting to use her gifts now that she spends so much time awake. Here are pictures of her during tummy time.

Fri - April 24 - "Sleepy Baby, No More"

Here comes trouble ... Sofia no longer falls asleep after her feedings. She is all eyes and ears these days, is great to see the look on her face as she explores the room. After a meal she stays quiet in her bed looking around for about 10 minutes... after that she needs company, entertainment and/or the pacifier.

"Comments Open to All"

The settings for comments have been changed and an id is no longer needed to leave a comment... look forward to hear from you all !!

Tues - April 21 - "Cherry Blossom 09"

The weather was great last weekend and we took Sofia to Branch Brook Park for our annual visit to check out the Cherry Blossoms.  Sofia is doing great and she is showing her personality. In the beginning we couldn't hear her if we were not in the room with her, that is no longer the case... it is serious business  around here when she's ready for her milk.

Sat - April 18 - "Sofia's Due Date"

Today is Sofia's due date and she is two months old. As I reflect on the two months she has been with us I feel blessed and I'm grateful. I thank God for my beautiful daughter and for watching over us thru this journey. I thank our family and friends for being with us every step of the way.
My heart is full of Joy.

Wed - April 15 - "Vaccination Day"

Sofia is 8 weeks, she weighs 6 pounds 6 ounces and she is 19 inches long. She got her first set of shots today, I have never seen her cry so hard, not even during the eyes exam. Her face turned so red, poor baby. So far she hasn't been fuzzy, will see if that last.
Gone are the days when Mommy and Daddy had to push Sofia to finish a 2 oz bottle; it used to take her up to 30 mins to finish it. Now we have to stop to burp her as she gulps down 4 oz in 10 mins. She eats 4 ounces every 2-4 hrs. At first I thought maybe I was pushing it giving her 4 ounces; but then after a 4 oz meal Sofia woke up 2 hrs later and had 4 oz more with no major spit ups... I then realized my tiny princess has become an eating machine.

Sat - April 11 - "Getting Bigger Every Day"

Sofia is now 5 pounds 14.5 ounces and has outgrown her premie outfits, so we get to wear new ones like the one in the picture. Auntie Awilda got it for her for Easter.  Sofia has also outgrown the little bottles we brought home from the Hospital since she eats 3 oz every 2-3 hours and those are 2.5 oz bottles. Sometimes Sofia stays awake after her feedings for up to 1.5 hrs and then takes another ounce or two. She has been doing that since Thursday, specially in the early morning; not nice since at those times Mommy is trying to get some more sleep...

Wed - April 8 - "Hip Ultrasound"

As part of the discharge orders we had to take Sofia for a hip ultrasound because she was born breech. The ultrasound didn't take long, Sofia was mostly quiet thru it and everything was normal.

At home there is nothing new, Sofia is now eating 3 ounces every 3 hours.

Sun - April 5 - "Sleepy Baby"

Not much going on at home, we are in the routine now; taking care of the little princess.   Sofia is now stronger, more vocal, more demanding and much louder than 2 weeks ago when she came home.
Daddy is now in paternity leave and is helping to take care of Sofia during the night... he is doing very good.

Mommy and Sofia are working on transitioning to breast feeding. Up until now Mommy has been pumping her milk and bottle feeding. Sofia is young enough that she doesn't mind
the change and seems to enjoy her time at the breast. She does great during the day; in the middle of the night is a little bit harder for her to focus since she is usually sleepy...
