Thur- March 12 - " 3 weeks old... Surprise! Surprise!"

I provided feedback the other day to the staff coordinator and told her the Hospital could improve their continuity of care; Sofia has had a new nurse every shift for the last week or so which makes it tough for someone to know her routine and understand what she needs when... well it seems they listened and it paid off... this morning Sofia had the same nurse she had yesterday and guess what.... she knew we are working on sucking and she knows Sofia has been doing well but she's been sleepy when I've been here offering her the breast; she also knew Sofia has been offered a bottle only once last Sat... Today she found Sofia wide awake in the morning and she saw the opportunity to try the bottle.... Surprise!! ... Surprise!! Sofia took her full feeding from the bottle!!!!
Of course she has to be able to do it 8 times a day but it is a great step to celebrate....

  1. Congratulations Sofia! You're on your way!
The last photo in this entry is gorgeous (with her finger by her lips)! She is growing into such a cutie. Eva had the same outfit that your Sofia is wearing in the top picture ;-)

  2. Way to speak up!! Sometimes I feel like that with my own care and I am an adult..I can't imagine a little baby that can't advocate for herself when you are not there...It can only be days now til she's home :) She's beautiful!

  3. I am so happy to see your little bundle of joy doing so well! I understand your frustration, it seems like each nurse is always telling me something different! Just remember, you're momma and you know best! I can't wait to see the progress as she begins bottle feeding! I promise that the light will switch soon and before you know it she will be on her way home! I will continue to check in to see how everything is going!
    Blessings, Courtney
